That’s Where I Would Play

Jack: “I’m glad you asked?”

Jill: “Asked what?”

Jack: “What I was in the mood for.”

Jill: “I didn’t ask. Actually, I didn’t say a word.”

Jack: “Well, now that we’re on the topic…”

And so Jill and I played one of our favorite games called, “You show me yours and I’ll…”

Jill: “HEY now!”

Sometimes Jill and I like to kick back and talk about places we’d like to go visit, things we’d like to do, etc. It’s always fun and a great way to brainstorm future adventures.

It just so happens today’s topic was cool places to grab a cocktail. Then she took it to another level; global hot spots!

Cloud 9
Mamanuca Islands, Fiji

One will find the infamous (or at least, soon to be) Cloud 9  on the crystal-clear lagoon waters of the Roro Reef off Malolo Island. This is a year-round South Pacific paradise that serves up local drinks, international DJs, wild water sports, and wood-fired pizzas (yum!). The establishment is R&R friendly with sunny daybeds, beach chairs, and plenty of other places to perch while sipping an ice-cold bottle of Fiji Gold beer, one of MANY concoctions offered.

Frying Pan
New York City

Few things compare to a sunny day in ‘the’ city. From mid-April through October, the multitudes of New Yorkers and/or Tri-Staters flock to the Frying Pan, a historic bar barge docked on the Hudson River. It’s not fancy by any stretch, but then again, it doesn’t have to be. What it lacks in chicness, it makes up for in burgers, brews, and awesome views of the city and Joisey!

The bar at the sophisticated Pan Pacific Singapore hotel is one for the ‘beautiful’ people. Heck, and all others, too. Our suggestion would be, head to Atrium. It’s a high-ceilinged space which features Asia’s longest bar (+140 feet long) and potentially Asia’s biggest party. And if that weren’t enough, the reflection pool (yes, you’ll find that here) offers fixed seating, so that’s one less thing to worry about. Yup, that’s where I would play.

Captian Nemo would be jealous. The Vernon’ish Jicoo cruises around Tokyo Bay every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening, year-round. Shuttling between Hinode Pier and Odaiba every half hour, this ‘riverboat’ bar, serves up creative cocktails and lively entertainment under white and neon lights. I wonder if the Seastreak ferries would consider an upgrade.
