“These Bee Gees get an A+!”

Jill: “You realize you’re repeating yourself over and over. And over.”
Jack: “It’s a Jim Carey-thing. “
Jill: “What???”
Jack: “Never mind. What should we go see?”
Entertainment options in Las Vegas? There are so MANY its mind-numbing… boggles the mind… drains the brain…
Jill: “Jack!”
Ok, there are quite a lot, and all within many genres. You have your high-priced residencies, your Broadway on the Strip, your fair share of neuvo-magic, your varied selection of tribute bands…
After thoughtful consideration poolside, we decided to take the tribute route for two basic reasons: 1. we prefer to spend the ‘big bucks’ on wine, dinner and gaming and, 2. we would rather experience these artists as they once were (with all due respect to Sir Elton John). Being BIG fans of the Bee Gees, we embarked on a throwback tour with the Australian Bee Gees.
Understand, being fans of their music will make this experience even better, though it is not ‘mandatory’ in the least in order to enjoy yourself.
The show is moderately priced and held in a small venue, a club of sorts which also offers a bar. We found this intimate setting to be a positive. On the other hand, seating is akin to a community center of sorts where the chairs surround long tables. We found this to be odd. As for our seats, we were first row, slightly off center.
The show itself is staged to take you through the Bee Gee’s career (1960s, 70s, etc). At various points of the show, the performers changed costumes to reflect the time period (i.e., white three piece suits for the disco era). The band itself does look quite similar to the ‘real deal’ and their approach throughout the show is one of fully adopting their characters, even making reference to their “dear brother, Andy” at one point. BUT the true magic is in their musicianship!
Their sound in voice and instrument is simply incredible; crisp and ideal. They were seamless in delivery hitting every note individually and in unison. The between-song banter was appropriate and good-natured. The support band are absolute professionals, perfect execution. Though we found the video show behind them to be a bit dry, it was understandable given the lack of size in venue (larger light shows, let alone pyrotechnics, will NOT work there).
The catalogue they run through will have you singing along to the many, MANY hits the Bee Gees have produced, as well as some not-so-popular ones sprinkled in. They might even surprise you with some hits one wouldn’t necessarily know were written by the brothers Gibb.
The ongoing music inspired quite a few to get up and dance which only fed into the positive energy the music was creating.
In the end, the Bee Gees greeted everyone as the exited where they offered photo opp’s and autographs, CDs, DVDs, t-shirts, etc.
Tribute bands are a HUGE business these days and it is clear the music of the Bee Gees is in BIG demand. It is also clear to us, the ABGs are one of the best and will have you dancing all the way home!
